Sharknado 2 Movie Release Date: Look Out New York!
It seemed like a given at this point, but it’s worth mentioning that SyFy has officially gone ahead and ordered a sequel for “Sharknado.” Honestly, I’m not sure how to feel about it. On one hand “Sharknado” is an early contender for my Best/Worst movie of the year award. However, I feel like it was a movie that had it’s time and place. It swept in and caught us all by surprise and we had a good cultural laugh about it. Can a sequel recapture that magic? I don’t know. I hope so.
Thomas Vitale, SyFy Executive VP of Programing and Original Movies, told The Hollywood Reporter that “Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm — on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”
Not much is known about the sequel except that it’ll be released in 2014 and we’ll see the flying sharks invade New York City. The Asylum is also returning to produce the feature. The biggest news of the moment though is that fans can help decide what the subtitle of the film will be.
Fans of the film can submit their suggestions for the subtitle of “Sharknado 2″ by tweeting @SyFyMovies with the hashtag #Sharknado. I’m not feeling the creative magic right now to come up with my own subtitle, so why don’t you tell us some of yours in the comments?
