Sinister 2 Casts James Ransone and Shannyn Sossamon

We knew one of these stars was returning already and I think it’s funny because we learned about it from Deadline who is now reporting it as breaking news.  Even though they broke the news themselves a few months.  Ah well, welcome to the wild ride that is entertainment writing.

Deadline is reporting that James Ransone and Shannyn Sossamon have been cast as leads in the upcoming sequel “Sinister 2.”  Ransone, you might remember, played the young deputy who assisted Ethan Hawke’s character in the first film.  Ransone will be returning to reprise that role.  Meanwhile, Shannyn will play “a protective mother who moves with her 9-year-old twin sons into a rural house that’s marked for death.”  The deputy, being well aware of what happened in the first movie, will probably come to her aid.

The next film will be directed by Ciaran Foy who will be working off a script from Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill.  Filming was expected to start this summer, so we can probably assume it’s already under way.
