Soldiers Take on the Undead in the First Trailer for WWII Horror Flick ‘Overlord’
It’s a supremely generic concept, but there’s something about “Overlord” that has me feeling hopeful that the end product could be a fun romp through a zombie infested warzone.
“Overlord” has had a bit of an interesting history as it was first announced as a project from J.J. Abram’s Bad Robot production company. After a while, it was revealed that they were going to work “Overlord” into the loosely connected narrative of Cloverfield universe. However, when “Cloverfield Paradox” received a tepid response, Abrams came out and said that “Overlord” would no longer be part of the Cloverfield universe and would be its own standalone film instead. Abrams could just be saying that so as to throw people off for when there’s a big reveal that the whole thing is taking place in a future world where the Cloverfield monster is president, but we’ll just have to take his word for it now.
In “Overlord” paratroopers wind up behind enemy lines during WWII. And while they’re prepared to survive against the Nazi threat, the nightmarish Nazi creations are another matter. Check out the trailer down below. “Overlord” hits theaters on November 9, 2018.
