Strike Entertainment Dissolves

Deadline has learned that the producing team of Marc Abraham and Eric Newman have agreed to go separate ways, thus dissolving the Universal based production company Strike Entertainment.

Strike Entertainment should be a familiar name for horror fans. Since the early 2000’s they’ve helped to bring some rather notable horror films to the big screen. Their first big horror project was the 2004 remake of the Dawn of the Dead which is best remembered for causing the debate between fast and slow zombies to really blow up.

In 2006 they helped to co-produce the James Gunn flick Slither, which is still one of my all time favorite creature features. 2010 brought the widely successful The Last Exorcism, though they wisely stayed away from the not-so-popular sequel. And finally in 2011 they helped The Thing prequel get made, for better or for worse. Their next project is the Robocop remake set to hit screens in 2014.

The article goes on to note that while the production company is dissolving, the two plan to reunite on future projects they already have in the works. Interestingly enough, they still say that Matt Reeve’s They Live, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and Dante’s Inferno are all still coming down the pipe.
