The Hunger Games Annihilates The Box Office

Gary Ross’ The Hunger Games adaptation has been getting some super hype since it was first announced and it obviously appears that almost everyone went to see this one. Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games is now the 3rd all-time biggest opening three-day weekend flick of all time.

According to Deadline, The Hunger Games managed to rake in the astronomical amount of $155 million during its three-day run. That breaks down to $68M on the Friday, $51M on the Saturday and $36M on the Sunday.

The film was just a shade short of 2008’s The Dark Night which managed to score $158.4M, however, The Hunger Games also marks the highest debut single day for a non-sequel ever, while also being the 5th highest opening day ever.

The Hunger Games made so much money at the box-office that it ever beat The Twilight Saga: New Moon which made $142.8M in November 2009 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 1 which made $131.8M in 2011.

So far, The Hunger Games has managed to make a staggering £214.25M worldwide which is currently also projected to be a no.1 in almost every market.

But the question is, was this one any good? Let us know what you thought of the film?
