The New ‘Saw’ Sequel Has a Release Date

Yesterday Chris shared with us the news that the Spierig Brothers (Daybreakers) would be helming the new “Saw” sequel and he even speculated that the film could be ready for release by October of next year.  Well, I’m declaring Chris to be some kind of witch, because he was right.

Lionsgate has announced today that the new “Saw” film, said to be titled “Saw: Legacy” will be hitting theaters in time for Halloween on October 27, 2017.  As Deadline points it this puts the film in a bit of competition with “Insidious: Chapter 4” which will release a week prior on October 20th.  So get ready for a hotly contested Halloween box office.

Aside from the release date and director announcement, we know very little about the upcoming “Saw” film.  The last entry in the series, “Saw: The Final Chapter”, seemed to tie a bow on the franchise as a whole.  So I’m eager to see what they come up with to revitalize the whole thing.  Are they going to continue the lore of the previous films? Will this be a fresh start?  Will they finally take “Saw” to space?

All these questions and more will hopefully be answered in the near future.  For now, it’s Game ON.
