The Next ‘Cloverfield’ Movie Could Wind Up On Netflix
We have literally seen nothing concrete about the next entry in the “Cloverfield” series. In fact, I’m not even convinced its a real movie anymore. At this point it could just be an elaborate ponzi scheme. However, we may learn the truth sooner than we thought as Netflix may be attempting to acquire the rights to it.
Deadline is reporting on some interesting speculation regarding the aforementioned “Cloverfield” entry. The film, which is currently going by the name of “God Particle”, is the next quasi-sequel in the “Cloverfield” franchise which started with the first film in 2008 and then followed up with the spiritual successor “10 Cloverfield Lane” in 2016. In “God Particle”…
A team of astronauts aboard the International Space Station suddenly find themselves alone in space when the Earth suddenly vanishes following an experiment gone awry. However, the arrival of a unknown space shuttle leads the team to a horrific discovery.
As I mentioned previously, we haven’t seen much about the movie and the only thing we knew was that it was originally supposed to come out on February 2, 2018. Well, at the start of this year we learned that it was being pushed back to April 2018. Now that might be changing as well.
According to Deadline Netflix has been pursuing a deal with Paramount to obtain all rights to “God Particle.” Right now Deadline is labeling this as just a “strong rumor”, but the deal seems plausible as Netflix currently has another deal with Paramount for “Annihilation” in which they get the international distribution rights. However, one of the more interesting aspects of this deal is that if Netflix does get the rights to “God Particle” they plan on releasing it sooner than the current theatrical release date of April 20th. That’s the part that has me most excited. Well, that and being able to watch it in the comfort of my own home.
So, for now this bit of news is being kept in the rumor mill, but stay tuned in case something changes.
