The Nun from ‘The Conjuring 2’ Will Get Her Own Spinoff Movie
It looks like New Line will be turning “Conjuring” spinoff films into a grand tradition. After a blockbuster weekend in which the horror sequel raked in $100 million worldwide, New Line has announced that they will be expanding the “Conjuring” universe even further with another spinoff.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that New Line is taking the Nun from “The Conjuring 2” and putting her into her own movie called… “The Nun.”
James Wan, who directed the two “Conjuring” films, will serve as a producer on the film along with Peter Safran. David Leslie Johnson co-wrote “The Conjuring 2” and will handle scripting duties. Along with “The Nun” we still have a sequel to “Annabelle” on the horizon as well. At some point we’re pretty going to go full on “Conjuring” cinematic universe with this thing. I just want to see the Warrens unite with the family from “Insidious” so we can have two Patrick Wilsons on screen at the same time.
Along with the news of “The Nun”, THR also had this interesting tidbit of info to share: Apparently the nun was a last minute addition to the film. The character was originally meant to look like a more demonic figure, but at some point Wan had the idea to make it a nun. So with a few months to go they went back and reshot a bunch of scenes with the character. It’d be interesting if we got a cut of the film with the original character just to see how much the appearance adds or subtracts to the film.
