The Red Band Trailer for Oldboy is Here!
The internet has been decrying this remake since the day it was announced, but now we finally have our first look at it. I’m a fan of the original “Oldboy”, but I’m still interested to see what sort of unique spin an American production can put on the original story. However this movie turns out, good or bad, it won’t change how I feel about the original 2003 film. I know it’s completely shocking, but remakes don’t ruin the original film.
With that being said, the first trailer for Oldboy is finally here and it’s a red band affair! There’s plenty of blood and violence to be had in this short teaser, including a glimpse at the infamous hallway hammer fight! Check it out below!
Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment
The film is being directed by Spike Lee and stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley. ”Oldboy” is written by Mark Protosevich, who previously worked on “Thor” and “I Am Legend.” The film is, of course, based on the 2003 korean film of the same name which was directed by Park Chan-wook. Both films are based upon a manga series that was released in 1996. It hits theaters on October 25th.
