The Romero Foundation is Attempting to Restore the Rarely Seen George Romero Film ‘Amusement Park’
So there was a lot of noise these last few days surrounding legendary filmmaker George Romero. If you haven’t been keeping up with the news, here’s a brief rundown of what happened.
It all started when Romero’s wife Suzanne Romero revealed that George had left behind a plethora of scripts and unfinished projects including a film that very few people have probably seen.
It didn’t take long for people to figure out that the “movie” was actually a weird little PSA Romero had filmed in the ’70s for a religious group about elder abuse. Unsurprisingly, it turned out that the short turned out to be too graphic for the group and they never used it. So it just sat around collecting dust, occasionally getting screened.
Well now there’s a whole lot of interest among horror fans in having this project see the light of day, so the George A. Romero Foundation is looking to have the film restored so they can give it a proper release. In order to do so they’re looking for donations on their site.
Personally, I’m not betting on this thing blowing me away, but I’d still love to see it as a curiosity. But if you’re on the fence and want to learn more about what “Amusement Park” has to offer I would recommend check out the Twitter feed of Daniel Kraus who watched it and had a lot of praise to heap on it.
