The Second Season of ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ to be Called ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’
When I was working on my Top Ten Horror Movies for 2018 I was extremely tempted to put “The Haunting of Hill House” on the list. While not a movie, the show was probably one of the best horror experiences I had that year. Ultimately, I didn’t do that and I never got around to writing anything about the series last year, so it let it be known now that I absolutely loved that show. And now we get to start thinking about a second season.
Netflix has revealed that a second season of “The Haunting” is in the works with series creator Mike Flanagan set to return. The first season focused on Hill House and how it tormented the Crain family. Thankfully the Crain family is being granted some mercy as the second season will focus on a new setting and characters.
Season two is titled “The Haunting of Bly Manor” and will be based on “The Turning of the Screw.” In that novella a governess is hired to watch a brother and sister after the death of their parents. Unfortunately for her, the siblings are plagued by supernatural beings.
“The Turning of the Screw” was originally set in the 1800s, but it’s unclear if the series will be set in the same timeframe. Given that the “Hill House” was a modern take on an older story with new elements mixed in, I can foresee the same thing happening in this case.
For now the only other thing we know about the series is that it’ll debut in 2020. So stay tuned for more details.
You guessed it. The HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, a new chapter in the Haunting series based on the works of Henry James, is coming in 2020. pic.twitter.com/nvhRBEfH2E
