The ‘Tremors’ TV Series is Dead at SyFy
Well, crap. Last time we talked about “Tremors” around here I wondered why it was taking so long for us to get any official news about the TV series they were working on. Last we heard was that in November of last year they shot the pilot episode and it sounded like SyFy was going to move forward with the series. Then things went silent on the project and now we know why.
Taking to his Instagram, Earth’s greatest hero Kevin Bacon revealed that the “Tremors” TV series was no longer moving forward at SyFy. Here’s what he had to say:
Sad to report that my dream of revisiting the world of Perfection will not become a reality. Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward. Thanks to our killer cast and everyone behind the scenes who worked so hard. And always keep one eye out for GRABOIDS!
One has to wonder what it was that led SyFy to change their mind on this one. Was the pilot not good enough? Was the show going to be too expensive for them? It’s hard to tell with SyFy as they seem to have gotten more adventurous with their TV programming as of late, but have also been quick to cancel shows that are seemingly doing well.
So does this mean that we’ll never see Kevin Bacon take on Graboids again? You can never say never with these kind of things. There’s always a chance that another network/service could pick it up. It was originally thought that Amazon was going to be the home of “Tremors” so maybe someone like “Netflix” might be interested. They recently stated that they were going to make sci-fi and fantasy shows/movies their top priority. A mini-series like “Tremors” might be their kind of thing. Only time will tell, but for now at least we still have the “Tremors” movies for all our Graboid needs.
