The Walking Dead: Robert Kirkman Sued By Friend
The return of The Walking Dead Season 2 hits our screens this Sunday, February 12th on AMC 9/8c. While we have this joyous occasion to look forward to, we also have some very unfortunate information making it’s way out of The Walking Dead camp.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Kirkman the famed Walking Dead comic book writer has been sued by a childhood friend and collaborator who claims he is entitled to as much as half the proceeds from the zombie franchise.
Michael Anthony Moore, a fellow comic book artist, recently filled a lawsuit this past Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court. “In the complaint, a copy of which was obtained by THR, Moore says he was duped into assigning his interest in the material over to Kirkman, who has since gone on to fame and fortune. Moore, on the other hand, has received very little compensation and has not be able to access profit statements from properties including Walking Dead, he says”
Moore claims he hasn’t received much revenue or profit from Kirkman or his company, despite it’s enormous success.
However, Kirkman’s attorney Allen Grodzky, tells the site that the case is, “totally frivolous. Mr. Moore is owed no money at all. And Mr. Moore’s contract has an attorneys’ fees clause in it so we will be going after him to collect attorneys’ fees. We are taking this matter very seriously.”
I guess we will just have to wait and see how this one unfold’s, it’s always extremely sad to see money make people tear apart strong relationships. Hopefully they can sort it out and move on.
