Tim Burton in Talks for Beetlejuice 2
The question of whether or not the world will see “Beetlejuice 2″ seems to be nearing an answer. While a script is currently being written and with Michael Keaton willing to return to his legendary role as the devious entity, there was really only one element missing from the project: a director.
The Wrap has learned that Tim Burton, the original director of “Beetlejuice”, is in talks to return to the director’s chair for one more shot at the ghost with the most. Nothing is confirmed yet, but The Wrap is pointing towards “individuals familiar with the project” as their source for the information.
Tim Burton just finished his current project, “Big Eyes”, and it would appear as if he doesn’t have any other projects lined-up yet. So it’s a strong possibility that he could return to “Beetlejuice.” Given that his last film, “Dark Shadows”, was a financial failure it could be that Burton is looking for a project that might be a surefire success.
I know that the general feeling about Tim Burton these days is, more or less, cold. However, if “Beetlejuice 2″ is going to happen then there’s no one else I’d rather see in the director’s chair then Tim Burton. Perhaps he can muster a bit of that gothic magic again and make a grand return to the darkly comedic world he once helped to create.
