TNT’s ‘Tales From the Crypt’ is Expected to Air in 2017
Man, I freakin’ loved Tales From the Crypt. Just everything about it was just so fun, we used to get re-runs of The Twilight Zone and The Munsters after it aired, it was awesome! Sadly we don’t seem to get re-runs of these shows that often, especially in the UK. But when the news came that Tales From the Crypt was returning, man, I had the biggest grin this side of England. Freakin’ stoked! So, care to learn a little more about TNT’s Tales From the Crypt? Head on down below and feast on some dearly details.
Thanks to our friends over at SlashFilm, they recently caught up with TNT and TBS President Kevin Reilly, and he divulged in a few tidbits of information.
In regards to the run-time of the show, he stated the following;
I think it may even be longer than an hour. There’s going to be a half-hour anthology and then a one-hour original show with some shorts in between. So it’s part of a whole block. The original half-hour, sort of slightly comedic, kind of twisted [story] that Night [M. Night Shyamalan] himself is going to direct will be a part of it every week. Then we’re going to have rotating original one-hours. Then we’ve got shorts that’ll be part of it too.
In regards to the shorts that will be featured during the one-hour episodes, Reilly stated;
Some of those shorts are going to be crowdsourced ultimately. I don’t even think we’ve announced this yet but we are working with Wattpad and ultimately I’d like some material to come from [from viewers]. We have some Guild issues we need to work out on this, but I’d like fan fiction to essentially make its way to our air.
Now, onto The Crypt Keeper who was voiced by John Kassir. There seems to be some rights issues, so sadly their puppet will have to be different from the original ones.
The rights on this are just a disaster. It’s been a mess trying to sort out. There are so many people that seem to have an ownership position on this. So yeah, that’s both a creative and legal thing.
And lastly, the show is expected to hit next year;
Tales will be on towards the end of ’17, in the fourth quarter ’17
While I’m stoked, I’m a little skeptical of Shyamalan’s involvement, but who knows, he may deliver the goods. The second thing is this whole one-hour, half-hour episodes. It seems a little confusing. But I guess we will have to wait and see.
