Todd McFarlane Says a New Dark and Scary Spawn Film is in the Works
Todd McFarlane has been beating the drum for a new “Spawn” movie for a long time now, but it seems like the comic book creator/entrepreneur hasn’t given up the dream. And perhaps things are finally starting to solidify for the long gestating project.
McFarlane appears in the new AMC series “Geeking Out” and a new preview clip posted to ComicBook.com shows the comic creator talking about the “Spawn” film and that a new film is still in the works. When asked about the possibility of a reboot McFarlane said “The simple answer is yes.”
What’s interesting about this new take on “Spawn” is that it looks like McFarlane wants to take him away from the traditional comic book conventions and make Spawn more of a boogeyman. According to McFarlane the new script will be “a dark, R-rated, scary, badass sort of script.” He even compared Spawn to be more like Jaws. It’s an engrossing concept, but it’s hard to imagine it’d be the kind of thing that’ll appeal to a big studio.
