Top Ten Meanest Movie Demons
We’ve all heard of demons; malevolent beings that cause harm and spread evil. Plus, being possessed by a demon is a fairly uncomforting thought. They try to kill people, take souls, and sometimes, they’re just rude. This list contains several portrayals of demons in movies, whether they’re physically abusive, or verbally abusive as well! Because, in all honesty, some demons really do just say the darndest things!
10. Paranormal Activity
The film itself wasn’t too scary, but it did make me a little paranoid after viewing it. Any time something seemed slightly off in my house, my brain immediately jumped to the conclusion that I was being stalked by a demon. Not only was this demon mean for killing a whole bunch of people (in terms of the franchise) but for also keeping me up at night!
9. Insidious
I personally thought this one was more fun than actually scary. However, that being said, there were some fairly creepy visuals. Not only did the demons torment an entire household, but also they mainly focused on the little kid, which is always really messed up. Plus the twist at the end broke my heart because Patrick Wilson is pretty hot, and knowing that there was a creepy old lady inside of him kinda ruined his whole “dilf” vibe.
8. Jennifer’s Body
Scary? Not really, and I’m pretty sure most people just watched it for Megan Fox. But Amanda Seyfried’s character had it right when she said, “She’s actually evil. Not high school evil.” That’s actually saying something because I know I’m not the only one who remembers how cruel high school students can be. Megan Fox’s character, Jennifer, really does take it to the next level, especially when she tries to eat her best friend’s boyfriend. That’s just low Jennifer!
7. Drag Me to Hell
I really loved this movie. The scenes in which the demon, the Lamia, torments Christine are fairly gross and terrifying. In return for sacrificing her cat, she was called a “dirty pork queen,” by the Lamia, which doesn’t sound too vulgar, but still packs a punch. Then the demon had the nerve to embarrass Christine in her in front of her man’s family, as if they already didn’t already dislike her enough. And can we all just take a second to remember that possessed goat scene? I will admit that I laughed out loud when it bleated out, “You tricked me, you black-hearted whooooore! You biiiiitch!” Pretty cheesy, but I know that if a goat insulted me like that I would be quite offended.
6. Night of the Demons
Maybe it’s just me, but I hate party crashers. It’s debatable whether or not they were asking for their extra guests with the séance and all, but still, there’s nothing fun about being killed by demons, especially when you’re in the mood to party!
5. Demons
If you’re on this site, it’s probably safe to assume that you’re a movie buff. Can you imagine going to watch a movie and being turned into a demon? Yeah, I’ll pass on that. And as if possessing one person isn’t crappy enough, they go the extra mile and spread the demonic possession to the town. Rude, much?
4. The Last Exorcism
Abalam, the demon that possessed Nell, is a pretty messed up spirit. What really got to me was the cringe-worthy scene in the barn towards the end when it made Nell’s body break her own fingers. During the film, you can’t help but feel bad for Nell, who was really the only likeable character in the film. Remember when she, while possessed, asked Marcus if he wanted a “blowing job?” Not cool Abalam. Now, the biggest douchebags in the movie are her brother and his little cult for subjecting her to the possession in the first place, but Abalam is still a pretty shady spirit on its own.
3. Evil Dead
Two words: tree rape. Who didn’t feel uncomfortable during that scene? To think, this could have all been avoided if it weren’t for those damn kids. And whether they’re possessed or not, it’s definitely not easy to take apart someone you know.
2. American Horror Story: Asylum
Not a movie, but this is a demon definitely worth mentioning. Now it’s clear that Sister Jude was no saint, but seeing the possessed Sister Mary Eunice ruin her life was brutal. I’ll admit that under the influence of a demon she had quite the sense of humor, but you can’t help but pity the once innocent nun for being possessed. And despite your opinions of the Catholic Church, seeing her rape a priest was really difficult to watch. That’s like the ultimate no-no, and the pinnacle of blasphemy.
1. The Exorcist
I think it’s fairly clear why this is the number one on this list, but let me refresh your memories as to why this possession stands out above the rest. Pazuzu, the demon possessing 12-year-old Regan, is quite the freak, who causes Regan to masturbate with a crucifix and shout out various sexual acts (did I mention she is only 12-years-old?) Her language goes beyond vulgar, using various swear words and other slurs, including the C-word! Pazuzu also messes up her face and body, transforming her from a normal little girl, to one of the creepiest images in horror movie history!
In conclusion, demons are evil. They hurt people, physically and mentally, and go about murdering people like it’s their job. If you find someone you know possessed by a demon, it’s pretty safe to say that you should stock up on holy water and run the other way. And if you find yourself a subject of demonic possession, well, I wish you the best of luck because, quite frankly, you’re fucked.
