Universal Studios Hollywood is Getting a Year-Round ‘Walking Dead’ Attraction
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Universal Studios’ annual Halloween Horror Nights event. Every year I look forward to the big reveal of mazes and attractions that start to trickle out in the lead up to the Halloween event. But this year Universal is shaking things up by introducing a new year-round attraction.
You might recall that at one point Universal Studios Hollywood featured a pretty awesome House of Horror attractions. It was a mish-mash of horror elements in a big haunted house that was open all year long. Universal, sadly, shut it down a few years ago. Well now Universal is partnering up with AMC to bring a new horror house attraction to the park and this one is going to be based on the hugely successful “Walking Dead” franchise.
Coming Summer 2016, enter the post-apocalyptic world of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” in an all-new year-round attraction. Prepare to fight for survival in a fully immersive journey as you navigate through a world overrun by hungry walkers. Follow in the footsteps of the human survivors as you battle your way through nightmarish iconic landscapes that bring the most popular cable TV show in history to life!
The attraction will reportedly feature both actors in makeup and animatronic zombies that’ll terrorize guests. Universal Studios Creative Director John Murdy revealed on Twitter that he’s been working on the project for at least two years, so I’m eager to see what sort of tricks they’ve conjured up in that time.
For now, check out the brief teaser below and stay tuned for more details.
