Village Life Can be Murder – First Look at ‘The Book Club’
We have just received word that Jamie McKeller is taking the deep plunge and is looking to create his first feature film. McKeller has produced a slew of short films in the past six years that he has been active, but now he is looking to take his idea to the next stage. His feature film project is titled The Book Club. At first glance I wasn’t too sure if this was something that we’d be interested in, but after delving a little further, it appears as if he has a fun little horror comedy on his hands and we have your first look.
The film has raised nearly £5,000 on Kickstarter, so if this is your cup of tea, give these chaps a hand and you can score some killer perks in return as well as brag to all your friends that you helped some folks from across the pond. So, if you can help or you’d simply like to know more, hit up their Kickstarter campaign HERE.
From the Press Release:
Chester Mapleforth has seceded his cul de sac from the UK and the first thing that he did was to make murder legal. But only if it’s kept within the postcode. A small film crew find themselves trapped in the neighbourhood and have no option but to record the terrible, awful events that unfold over the last six months of “Chestersberg.”
It’s The Great British Bake Off meets Silence of the Lambs.
The Book Club is the first feature length film from award winning British independent filmmakers RedShirt Films. It’s an ambitious project stuffed with classic horror practical effects and is being funded through an all or nothing Kickstarter campaign that runs until June 28th in an attempt to raise the relatively small budget of £25,000.
The Kickstarter is full to the brim with great perks and rewards, such as the opportunity to have head and body casts done for practical special effects, set visits, secret message groups, premiere tickets and of course digital rewards such as the score and access to an online screener of the film once complete. If successful, the project will commence filming in July 2017, with a completion date of February 2018. The film will then be submitted into horror festivals and events across the world, such as Frightfest, Screamfest, Dead by Dawn and The British Horror Film Festival with the ultimate goal of seeking distribution, both physical and online.
The project has just cast star of Primeval, Alice and Lucky Man Andrew Lee Potts and are in conversation with several other actors from the world of British TV and Film.
Audiences can expect nothing but the finest in disgraceful special effects and comedy splatter filled blood and guts, as previously seen in award winning webseries I Am Tim Helsing and short film The Final Girl, which was praised by acclaimed horror director Eli Roth.
