Viral Video for Upcoming Extraterrestrial Film ‘The Phoenix Incident’
Can a viral video really be considered viral when its released through the press and not spread virally? These are the questions that keep me up late at night.
Deadline is featuring a new video today which is part of a viral campaign for an upcoming film titled “The Phoenix Incident.” The film takes inspiration from the real life Phoenix Lights sighting from way back in 1997 in Arizona. “Phoenix Incident” will mark the feature film debut of Keith Arem who has previously worked as a game director for such titles as “Call of Duty” and “Titanfall.”
Another interesting video game connection to this project is that it’ll star such famous voice talents as Troy Baker and Yuri Lowenthal. Baker can be heard in just about every game on Earth right now, but fans of the site might remember him as the voice of Joel in “The Last of Us.” Meanwhile, Yuri Lowenthal (an equally prolific voice talent) can be heard in titles like “Sunset Overdrive” and “The Evil Within.”
Here is how Deadline describes the film:
[The film is…]about four unsolved Missing Persons cases connected to the Phoenix phenomenon using whistleblower testimony, recovered military footage, and eyewitness accounts to explore the U.S. military’s alleged engagement of alien spacecrafts that night.
According to the site the film will screen next week for buyers and then we should start seeing a “transmedia viral campaign” spring up to promote the film. Depending on how they approach that, this could be an interesting experiment in marketing. Keep your eyes on the skies.. and your Twitter feed.
