Will Paranormal Activity 5 Come Out in January?
There’s some rumblings on the internet (shocking) and people are starting to wonder if the fifth Paranormal Activity sequel will even come out this year. There haven’t been any major announcements, no directors attached, no teaser trailers, etc… Is the movie simply just deep underwraps and hiding from the public eye or is it stuck in production hell?
The situation is even more complex now as we have two conflicting answers from different sources. Over on The Wrap, they ran a story “from an inside source” that revealed that “Paranormal Activity 5″ was being pushed back to January 2014. Which has suddenly become a big horror month thanks to “The Devil Inside” making a ton of money when it debuted in that month. But why are they forgoing their annual October slot when it’s been so profitable for them? The Wrap’s inside source said that “They really like the director, but they are second guessing themselves.” That doesn’t sound too good…
But then the story gets a little stranger when you take into account the article published on Shock Till You Drop today which featured a snippet from an interview with “Paranormal Activity” producer Jason Blum. In the interview he had this to say about the current status of the film: “It’s not done, but it’s closer to being done than when we started,” he laughed. “We’re on track for October, it’s mostly shot. We’re still shooting but it’s mostly done.” This interview was conducted over the weekend while The Wrap ran their story today. Could that much have changed in such a short amount of time?
And what about the fact that the next Paranormal film was going to have a hispanic-centric spin-off? No one is mentioning that film at all. Everyone is being strangely mum about the franchise at this point. One thing is for certain, “Paranormal Activity 3″ started the advertising ball rolling during Comic Con a few years ago. Maybe they’ll try something similar again? We’ll keep our eyes open and let you know.
