X-Files Creator Working on a Pilot for Amazon
While Chris Carter might be toying with the idea of another X-Files film, that isn’t the only project on his mind as of late. The man who brought us “X-Files” and “Millenium” is set to direct a pilot episode based on a script he wrote for Amazon.
Deadline broke the news yesterday when they revealed that Carter was working on his first pilot in over a decade. The pilot is called “The After” and will be a thriller/drama that “takes place at the moment of the apocalypse.” Readers might remember that Amazon has ordered pilots before, only to later decide not to pick them up for a series. Case in point: Zombieland.
Amazon is still trying to find it’s place in the world of digital streaming and with Netflix having continuing success with it’s original programing, they’re looking to find a show that can give them the same sort of credibility. Whether or not it’ll be Chris Carter’s project remains to be seen. However, if the show does become a success and Carter becomes deeply involved in it, I wonder what that would mean for a potential “X-Files” sequel. The truth is…somewhere over there.
