‘ZombiU’ is Coming to PS4, XBox One, and PC this August

Remember Ubisoft’s last big entry on the Wii U? It was the zombie themed survival horror game “ZombiU.”  After the console underperformed and “ZombiU” failed to produce the big sales Ubisoft was hoping for the developer opted out of supporting the WiiU with any new original titles.  For those that actually really enjoyed “ZombiU”, this seemed to kill the chance of a sequel ever being made again.  However, that might one day change now.

Ubisoft has announced that they’re bringing the Wii U exclusive “ZombiU” to the PS4, XBox One, and PC and it’ll arrive this year on August 18th.  So far Ubisoft hasn’t detailed how this port will be different from the Wii U version except for the fact that they’re dropping the “U” and simply calling the game “Zombi.”  Also, the game is expected to be a digital download.

With Ubisoft going out of their way to bring “Zombi” to new consoles I have to wonder if they see the title as a potential franchise that could  live on on the new platforms or if they’re only interested in recouping their initial investment by bringing it over to new systems.  I imagine Ubisoft will use the titles performance on new systems as a determining factor for the future of the “Zombi” series.
